Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes what St. Clair County Busted Mugshots may receive when someone visits, uses a search tool, or sends a message, how that information is used, and when it may be shared. Using the service means accepting these practices. Government sources linked from the county records pages have their own policies.

Information You Submit

Search Terms

A name, location, or other phrase entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. St. Clair County Busted Mugshots does not store or log those terms on its own systems. The provider may handle the request under its own privacy notice and terms.

Messages and Requests

If you send an email or contact message, the information in that message is kept so a reply can be made and the matter can be managed. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is needed to provide the response, protect rights, or comply with a valid legal requirement. Do not send sensitive personal information unless the receiving office asks for it.

Technical Data and Cookies

Normal page delivery can produce technical logs. Depending on the hosting, analytics, and advertising services in use, those logs may include:

  • IP address or a shortened network identifier.
  • Browser type, version, and language settings.
  • Device category and operating system.
  • Pages visited and the time spent on them.
  • The referring page, when a browser supplies one.
  • Access timestamps and basic error information.

Cookies and Similar Tools

Cookies or related technologies may help measure use, remember a setting, support the search tools, or understand which pages are useful. Browser controls can block or delete cookies. Some features may behave differently when they are blocked.

How Information Is Used

Information may be used to operate and secure the service, keep pages working, route a search request to the selected partner, understand which parts are useful, troubleshoot technical faults, and show advertising that may be relevant to a visitor’s interests. The service does not use a visitor’s message to alter an official St. Clair County, city, court, or Illinois Department of Corrections record.

Outside Websites

Links on the county records pages lead to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, the county jail roster, the Sheriff’s Corrections page, Belleville, O’Fallon, and Cahokia Heights offices, the Circuit Clerk, Illinois courts, IDOC, BOP, ICE, newsrooms, and third-party search publishers. Once a visitor leaves this service, the destination’s privacy policy governs its collection and use.

Advertising partners and search providers may use their own cookies or similar tools to measure activity across websites and serve targeted advertising. That activity takes place on their systems, not under the control of this policy.

Who May Receive Data

Personal information is not sold as a standalone list. Information may nevertheless be received by the following parties when needed for the service or required by law:

  • Search partners that process a query entered into their tool.
  • Analytics providers that measure page use and errors.
  • Advertising networks and their measurement partners.
  • Service providers that host, secure, or maintain the pages.
  • Law-enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order or other lawful demand requires disclosure.

Security Practices

Reasonable administrative, technical, and operational safeguards are used for information under the organization’s control. No internet-connected system is completely secure, so this policy is not a promise that data is breach-proof or immune from every attack.

Visitors Under 18

The service is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent personal information, a parent or guardian may use the Contact Us route to request review and deletion where appropriate.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and reasonable identity checks, a person may ask what personal information is held, request correction of inaccurate information, ask that information be deleted, or object to certain uses. Requests should identify the data and the action sought. Search terms passed directly to a third-party provider must be addressed with that provider.

  • Ask for a copy of information held by this organization.
  • Point out an error and request correction.
  • Ask for deletion when retention is no longer needed or law allows it.
  • Opt out of certain optional processing, cookies, or marketing tools through available controls.

Policy Changes

This policy may be revised when the service, partners, legal requirements, or data practices change. The current version is posted here with a new effective date when a material update is made. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to future use.
